518 Christmas Party!!

Prior to the yummy food and crazy games, 518 students will be heading out into the community to spread “good tidings of great joy” to nursing home residents and shut-ins at this year’s Christmas party.

Students are also encouraged to bring pairs of new socks (adult or child-sized) to be donated to Star of Hope, a homeless shelter in Houston, instead of bringing gifts to give eachother this year.

One more change….PARENTS are encouraged to attend this year’s Christmas party with their students!    We’d love for you to serve and play with us that night!  We would also appreciate yummy desserts or snacks, if you feel motivated to bring some to share!

The 518 staff can’t get over the fact that a Savior has been born to us. He is Christ the Lord.

Mid-Winter Retreat. Get excited. :)

 

The packets are officially out and available, which means it is time to get signed up for Mid-Winter retreat!

Mid-Winter is unique in that you get to choose your focus for the trip by selecting one of five different Small Group options. We’re really, really excited about your choices:

• Theonustos: Knowing God through the Power of His Word
• Hyper-Nikao: Living as a Super-Conqueror
• Stao: Learning to Stand your Ground in a World at War
• The Solas: The Five Foundations our Faith is Built On
• Jesus Among Other Gods: Contrast Jesus with the Founders of Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism

Pick up your packet in the Student Center now, and register early to make sure you get a spot!

 

 

Food Drive!

 

Beautiful: A Father Daughter Banquet

6th-12th grade girls and their fathers or father-figures are invited to attend this memorable event! Tickets can be purchased Wednesday night in the Student Center (just ask a staff member) or Sunday morning, October 4, between services.

Also, if you or your daughter are planning to attend, submit an early childhood picture of father and daughter together to be part of an “aawww!”-evoking slideshow!  Pictures should be sent to ashley.wollam@bafbc.org or delivered to the main office.

 

See You At The Pole

See You At The Pole is an opportunity for students to stand for Jesus Christ and cry out to Him for their friends, families, schools, and more.  The event takes place around school flag poles on Wednesday morning, September 23 before school begins.

“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes…” Romans 1:16

Go and pray.

Also, THAT NIGHT at 518, we’ll be continuing the See You At the Pole emphasis with a night of free pizza, student testimonies, and a clear presentation of the good news about Jesus. The Bay Area Community Church student ministry will be our special guests, and 518 students are challenged to bring their friends that evening!  All this will take place at the BAFBC Student Center from 6:30-8:00pm.

 

Student-Led Bible Study

Cyndie Meersman and Ashley Rogers would like to invite you to a student-led time of Bible study and accountability on Sunday evenings from 6:00-7:00pm.  The group will meet each week in the Student Center conference room (inside the hut).

We (as 518 staff) are very excited about this and want to encourage you to grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ by being a part of this group!

6:30pm – 518 JV (6th-8th Bible Study)

7:00pm – Worship (6th-12th)

7:30pm – 518 Varsity (9th-12th)

Main Event Update

We have about 10 spots left for Main Event and then we’re full!

The next 10 individuals to bring $25 to the Student Ministry office will be able to go to Main Event with the group Wednesday night from 6:30-9:00.
